About a girl meet the beatles
In the Name of Love all these songs capture the spirit of an era and an image of "girlhood" in post-World War II America that still reverberates today. While there were over girl groups recorded in the '60s--including key hitmakers like the Ronettes, the Supremes, and the Shirelles - studies of girl-group music that address race, gender, class, and sexuality have only just begun to appear. Warwick is the first writer to address '60s girl group music from the perspective of its most significant audience--teenage girls--drawing on current research in psychology and sociology to explore the important place of this repertoire in the emotional development of young girls of the baby boom generation. Girl Groups, Girl Culture stands as a landmark study of this important pop music and cultural phenomenon. It promises to be a classic work in American musicology and cultural studies. Christine Nesteruk Gerber says the four greatest events in her 69 years of life were getting married, having children, getting grandchildren, and meeting the Beatles.
Yeah, sure. So, she met the Beatles during Beatlemania? Uh, yeah. Sure she did. I went to our microfilm department, snapped in the film. A plan was hatched. The mastermind was Grisi. She went to a print shop and had letterhead and envelopes made as if they belonged to Brian Epstein, the Beatles manager. She wrote on the letterhead as if Epstein was giving the girls permission to meet the Beatles in the dressing room at JFK before the concert.
Grisi then placed the letterhead envelope inside another envelope and mailed it to a Beatles pen pal in England. That pen pal mailed the inside envelope back to Grisi. Grisi then took the faked Epstein letter and put it into the envelope that now had a postmark from the motherland.
Barbara showed each one the letter and they let us through. Barrow went inside with the letter. When the door reopened, Epstein was standing there shaking the letter with his signature on it. But next time get the address right. This time, and for 40 minutes, Gerber and the girls were in a room with the Beatles. One of the girls asked why he stayed apart from the rest. Instead, she put it in her purse. I think she kept it in a mayonnaise jar for years. After taking some photos with the band, and Barbara giving George a drawing she did of him, the girls left to go to their seats.
When the dressing room door opened, TV cameras were there, and they ended up on the 11 p. As Gerber recalled that magical moment, she occasionally referred to notes she made in a journal immediately after returning from the concert, the words scraping the frosting off her memory.
The thing is, it turned out to be amazingly easy. It was such an innocent time. Columnist Phil Gianficaro can be reached at , pgianficaro theintell. She met the Beatles. Indeed, she did. Gerber and Dietrich pointed at Grisi.

I first heard of the Beatles when I was nine years old. I spent most of my holidays on Merseyside then, and a local girl gave me a bad publicity shot of them with their names scrawled on the back.
